Frequently asked questions

How much is the Romanian rovinieta for cars in 2026?

Until 30 June 2026, category A cars pay approximately 18 lei for 1 day, 30 lei for 10 days, 75 lei for 60 days, and 250 lei for 12 months.

What changes to the Romanian rovinieta from July 2026?

From 1 July 2026 the price is expected to be differentiated by Euro emission class: cleaner Euro VI and electric vehicles pay the least, around 22 lei/day up to roughly 254 lei/year, while older Euro III vehicles pay more, around 29 lei/day up to roughly 330 lei/year.

Does the Romanian rovinieta cover all roads or only motorways?

It covers the entire national road network, not just motorways, and has been fully digital and plate-based since 2010.

Are there separate bridge tolls in Romania besides the rovinieta?

Yes — the Fetești–Cernavodă bridge on the A2, the Giurgeni–Vadu Oii crossing, and the border bridges Giurgiu–Ruse and Calafat–Vidin all charge separate tolls on top of the rovinieta.

What is the fine for not having a Romanian rovinieta?

For cars, the fine is reportedly 500–1,000 lei plus the unpaid tariff, and it is typically camera-enforced with the fine sent by post.

Can I get a refund on a Romanian rovinieta?

A refund or transfer is possible via the official CNAIR restitution form, for example if the vehicle was sold or stolen, reportedly pro-rata for unused full months.

Where can I buy a Romanian rovinieta?

At erovinieta.ro, at petrol stations such as OMV, Petrom, MOL, Rompetrol and Lukoil, at post offices, and at border crossing points.
